Kunqun Opera Town Visitor Center is located in the eastern gateway area of Zhengyi Ancient Town, on the southwest side of the intersection of Xincheng Road and Bingdilian Road, across the road from the Opera Museum, with a total area of 10,307㎡ and a total construction area of 21,549㎡. Functions such as tourist services, community activities, public services, administrative offices, and multi-functional halls are set inside. Based on the origins of Zhengyi, Kunqu Opera and Bingdilian, the architectural shape of the visitor center is inspired by “Bingdilian”, drawing on the minimalist method of Kunqu Opera to create scenes and create imagination, and using brief geometric lines to create the association of “Bingdilian”.

The project uses the form of “lotus” to define the architectural shape of the visitor center. That is to say, the stretched “lotus leaves” define the roof, the blooming “lotus flowers” define the skylights of the roof, and the crystal “water drops” define the atrium of the building. In terms of height and shape, it is in harmony with the Baixi Museum across the road, forming a closely connected “Bingdilian”, redefining the east gate of Zhengyi Ancient Town.

The building functions include five functional areas including tourist services, community activities, administrative offices, public services, and multi-functional halls. Tourist service area is equipped with tourist information desk, public restroom, exhibition area and ship waiting area; The community activity area has a neighborhood service center, a book bar, and a children’s activity area; The public service area has cafes, rest spaces, and parking lots; The administrative office area is equipped with office space and administrative business reception room; a multi-function hall. The visitor center not only fulfills the function of collecting and distributing tourists, but also takes into account the function of community activities in the town.
